CENOTE DIVING
High-quality cavern guiding for certified recreational divers
Discover the Magic of Cenotes in the Riviera Maya!
Experience the breathtaking beauty of Mexico’s cenotes with our expertly guided cavern diving tours. Hidden beneath the lush jungles of the Riviera Maya, these crystal-clear freshwater sinkholes offer an unforgettable adventure for certified recreational divers.
Our tours are designed to provide a safe, thrilling, and immersive experience, allowing you to explore the mesmerizing light beams, ancient rock formations, and pristine waters that make these caverns world-famous. Unlike cave diving, cavern tours stay within the reach of natural daylight and follow clear safety guidelines, making them accessible to divers with Open Water or higher certification.
At CDT Mexico, we pride ourselves on small group sizes, personalized attention, and expert guidance to ensure an enjoyable and unforgettable dive. Whether it’s your first cenote dive or you’re looking to discover new sites, we tailor each tour to your experience level and preferences.

Why Choose CDT Mexico
Cenote guiding at CDT Mexico is provided by active cave instructors with long-term experience in the region. While cavern tours are recreational dives, they benefit from the same planning discipline, situational awareness, and conservative mindset applied in technical and cave diving.
The atmosphere remains relaxed and approachable, but dives are structured, well-briefed, and professionally managed. Group sizes are kept small to maintain control, awareness, and a high-quality experience.
This is cavern diving guided by people whose primary work is training cave divers and instructors.
Typical Cavern Diving Program
A cenote diving stay is often organized over several days, allowing exposure to a variety of sites and conditions.
A common structure may include:
-
Day 1: Well-established cenotes and technically easy with strong daylight
-
Day 2: Cenotes with higher technical challenge and more formations
-
Day 3+: Additional cenotes selected based on diver comfort, interest, and conditions
Dive sites may change depending on weather, park schedules, and access restrictions.
Example of our typical schedule:
Day 1 - Dos Ojos (Barbie Line & Bat Cave)
Day 2 - Nohoch
Day 3 - Dreamsgate (up and downstream)
2 more days:
El Eden, Tajma Ha, Carwash, Zapote, Taak Be Ha, Nicte Ha, Maraviglia, Kin Ha, etc.
What to Expect Beyond the Dive
Cenote tours with CDT Mexico include thorough briefings, site overviews, and context about the systems being dived. We assist with practical logistics such as transportation coordination, scheduling, and park access.
When appropriate, we are happy to answer questions about equipment, local conditions, or future training paths — without turning the dive into a course.
The goal is a clean, controlled, and memorable cavern diving experience, without unnecessary pressure or spectacle.
Equipment & Practical Considerations
Divers are expected to arrive with functional, well-maintained recreational diving equipment and to be comfortable managing it independently.
Limited rental equipment is available. Personal items such as dive computers, masks, fins, and exposure protection are not available for rent.
Transportation is provided within the Puerto Aventuras–Akumal area. Taxi transportation can be arranged at the diver’s expense. Divers may also rent a car independently, although staying with us simplifies logistics significantly.
Accommodation recommendations and Stay & Dive Packages are available for streamlined planning.

Sidemount Equipment
Sidemount systems are highly personal and configuration-dependent. Owning a sidemount system is strongly recommended.

Renting a sidemount system typically requires up to half a day for setup and adjustment
-
Sidemount systems can be purchased through CDT Mexico if needed
-
A sidemount system setup service is available for a flat fee of 100 USD
Health & Medical Fitness
Divers are responsible for ensuring they are medically fit to dive.
-
A medical questionnaire can be provided if needed
-
A physician’s clearance may be required based on medical history
Diving environments are physically and mentally demanding.
