Alain was born in Switzerland and is fluent in English, French, Italian, German and Spanish, he arrived in Mexico in 2005.
Since he became a diving professional in 2003, Alain logged over 5,000 dives in Mexico, Belize, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Egypt, Rep. of Maldives and Rep. of Palau. Among them, over 3,000 technical dives requesting specialized equipment and/or techniques (twins, side-mount configuration, stage/multi-stage, decompressions cylinders and procedures, exploration and survey, etc.). Out of those 3,000 technical dives, 2,000+ are cave dives in Mexico.
In 2005, Alain became an Adv. Nitrox and a Cavern Instructor for IANTD, then an Intro to Cave instructor in 2008.
Through 2008 and 2010 he started survey and exploration projects in Dream's Gate, Pierre's P., Xunaan Ha and Hol Kin cave systems. That was the ultimate hook to cave diving, as well as the first experiences with side mount configuration.
In 2012, Alain became part of the GoSideMount team as an Official Razor Cave Instructor.
In 2015, strong with his experience as a cave diver, explorer and instructor, he becomes a TDI IT (instructor trainer) and continues teaching at the highest level, training the future generation of cave diving professionals.
Currently, Alain is teaching cave diving in the area as actively participates in several projects with the local cave diving community.
